Obama’s campaign bundler, “best partner”, future Treasury Secretary pick, & MF Global CEO….can’t tell us where $1.2 billion in funds went

Birds of a feather - Barack Obama and John Corzine

This whole episode with Corzine not only tells you about the corrupt ex-Governor and Senator, but also gives you an idea of both Obama’s incompetence and his corrupt ties.Never forget that Corzine is CURRENTLY one of Obama’s campaign bundlers and pulled together over $500,000 already for Obama’s 2012 campaign.  From JammieWearingFool and Washington Post (in July), Obama has called Corzine his “Wall Street Guy” and has appointed Corzine to smooth over the banking industry for re-election funds since Obama has had a heyday bashing banks for months now:

President Obama is desperately putting his Wall Street stock in an unlikely old buddy.

The beleaguered president has recruited former Goldman Sachs head honcho Jon Corzine to shore up re-election funds from the banking industry, which is furious over Obama’s financial regulations.

Corzine, the former governor of New Jersey who was blasted out of office by Republican Chris Christie in 2009, has attended secret meetings with the president and has been working on Obama’s 2012 campaign for months, The Post has learned.

The Democrat, who now leads Manhattan-based brokerage MF Global, has been tasked with scraping up the very little banking-industry support Obama can still get.

Corzine was once hailed by Obama as and “honorable man” and one of his “best partners”.  Corzine has also been considered as Obama’s Treasury Secretary pick in a second term, according to ABC News.

Former New Jersey governor and U.S. Sen. Jon Corzine, whom President Obama once hailed as an “honorable man” and one of his “best partners” in the White House, has been subpoenaed to testify before Congress about his role in the collapse of the investment firm MF Global.

Corzine was chairman and CEO of the company between March 2010 and Oct. 31, 2011, when it filed for bankruptcyAn estimated $1.2 billion has not been accounted for, leaving many investor accounts drained.  The FBI and Justice Department are also investigating the case.

The unanimous, bipartisan vote today to require Corzine to appear before the House Agriculture Committee next week sets the stage for tough questioning of one of the president’s top re-election campaign fundraisers and a man who had, until recently, been considered a top pick for Treasury Secretary in a possible second Obama term.

Yet, this “honorable man”, Obama campaign money-handler, and potential Treasury overseer, picked by Obama, headed up MF Global for a meer 19 months and now can’t account for $1.2 billion of company funds.

From the Washington Post:

In testimony prepared for delivery to Congress on Thursday, Corzine says he was “stunned” to learn shortly before the firm sought bankruptcy protection at the end of October that MF Global could not account for the money.

“I simply do not know where the money is, or why the accounts have not been reconciled to date,” the former MF Global chief executive says, according to the testimony.

Corruption runs deep around Obama and within the Democratic party.  I hope Corzine gets what is coming to him.
And Obama, should return all of the 2012 campaign funds received directly from Corzine and those bundled by Corzine.

Did Hollywood “genius” Morgan Freeman see the Florida straw poll?

GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain, right, disputed actor Morgan Freeman's, left, claim on Friday that the Tea Party is 'a racist thing.'(pics: Jason Kempin/Getty; Joe Burbank/Pool)

Just wondering…did Morgan Freeman, the Hollywood Whiz Kid*, happen to take a look at the Florida Straw Poll on Saturday?

Herman Cain, a black man, won that straw poll largely from the support of the Tea Party.

Morgan Freeman said on CNN last week that members of the Tea Party are racists willing to do  whatever they can to “get this black man” (Obama) out of the White House.

The only racist I see is Morgan Freeman…..

Herman Cain responds:

“Most of the people that are criticizing the Tea Partiers about having a racist  element, they have never been to a Tea Party………Name calling is something that is going to continue in this because they don’t  know how to stop this movement and this movement is making a big difference in  politics.”

Amen!  Freeman is right about one thing….the Tea Party wants the President out of the White House.

Not because of his race, but rather based on:

So, Mr. Freeman, race is not the issue as proven in Florida….but for some reason it is an issue with you and many like you.

Why don’t you attend a Tea Party (as Herman Cain suggests) before spreading your nastiness?…and then….well….

Get. Over. It.

Obama’s “Presence of Malice”

Amidst the questionable tactics that Obama has used in getting us involved in another war in Libya, many in the media and politics are labeling his Libya actions as just one more instance of “incompetence” or “inexperience”.

While I do believe that Obama is incompetent and inexperienced in the skills it takes for executive management and the role of Commander-in-Chief, I don’t believe those descriptions fully explain the Obama presidency.

Remember that Obama said he would fundamentally change this country ….and he is well on the path.  When you look at his record and his actions over the last two years — Stimulus slush fund, Obamacare lies, unaccountable and unconstitutional czars, race-based justice, war with Libya with  no Congressional debate, etc. — it seems that much of the anti-Constitutional, anti-American movements of the administration are malicious.

I read an article today at the American Digest that makes the point much better than I can….

Even Obama’s most rabid supporters outside of his army of apparatchiks must surely sense that there is something “off” in the psychic structure of the current president. Most attribute it to his “yearning” to make the country ‘worthy’ of it’s place at the head of the nations. I suggest that it is something alarmingly dark and destructive. I suggest it comes from a psyche that, for many, many reasons stretching back to infancy, is so structured that it loathes the country down to its marrow, much as the psyche must loathe itself, and that is working, daily, on dismantling the nation with nothing except pure malicious intent. Why? Because it can.

Do I know this for a certainty? I cannot say, but “when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design.”

The author of this piece points out that conservative politicians and others may WANT to blame the current decisions and actions of this President on incompetence even though the much more dangerous reason — malice — is, arguably, the power behind Obama’s actions.

Self-identified conservatives, it seems to me, are only too happy to “rule out malice” when it comes to examining the actions of this oddest, most alien, and most unconnected to the American earth of presidents. I believe this is because it is both comfortable and gratifying for conservatives to do so. Conservatives love to think of themselves as being not only reasonable and right, but polite as well. Progressives are only too glad to help them smother in this self-nullifying delusion…..

…….The portrait here is of some hapless, sad-sack of a fellow ready to be decked out in the bulbous red nose, the clown shoes, and the strap-on poo-poo cushion, as he slinks disconsolately off the center stage of History. It’s a mindset that presupposes that the portrait of Dorian Gray is actually to be an Emmet Kelly self-portrait in pastels. It’s a comforting vision, but it is wrong. Deeply wrong and more deeply dangerous.

This posture first and last underestimates a man who has, by hooks and by crooks and by force of will, put himself in a place where he can now, at will, fire many cruise missiles into a foreign country without so much as a “Mother Jones, may I.” It is a habit of mind that not only underestimates Obama, it misunderestimates him by several orders of magnitude. It is well to remember that calling an American president “the most powerful man in the world” is not just a figure of speech.

Such an intellectual posture is typical of a classic American conservative attempting to come to grips with this strange phenomenon who holds the keys and the go-codes to the armed might of the United States of America. It is an attitude that worships the lie that a person occupying the role of the president of the United States must, he simply must, have the best interests of the nation, as he has come to understand them, at heart. It’s a bright and shiny concept and has a lot of innate attractiveness to the American conservative mindset. But like many contemporary conservative concepts it has little to say to the darker reality we face; a reality in which the chief executive of the nation is hell-bent on a malicious program whose intent is permanent harm to the nation he has perversely sworn to serve and protect. To a man who has no other gods before him the phrase “So help me God” means nothing.

For awhile, perhaps giving the benefit-of-the-doubt,  I volleyed between incompetence and malice as the power behind Obama’s actions and policies.  As each day passes and each action taken, I am more convinced that it is the latter.  The author cited above is on to something.  I do fear that even many who could see Obama’s far-left tendencies before the election will still wont to call it malice, since “incompetence” is easier to grasp and live with on a daily basis.  Malice would indicate something that could do massive and, perhaps, irreparable harm to the country we know.  I would argue that we have been deeply harmed and many more years of this will turn to the irreparable.

I highly encourage you to read the rest of the “Presence of Malice” argument here.

Cartoon of the Day: Decision Points vs. He Points

(H/T: HotAir.com)

I am currently reading Bush’s book “Decision Points”.  And it is aptly titled.  Bush discusses major decisions in his Presidency and his life.  Interesting read so far!

Since Oil Spill…Obama plays golf, basketball, party animal with McCartney and Calderon, politics, fundraiser, the blame game, host, lunch date, grad speaker, presenter…….

As they said at Ace of Spades, this video should go viral and probably will…..

A pictorial review of Obama’s “concern” for the citizens on the Gulf and the oil spill disaster.

At HotAir.com….a reminder of the unofficial count:

Just to remind people of the unofficial count:

  • Two days of media events (White House Correspondents Dinner and a tête a tête with Bono)
  • Three days of fundraising
  • Four commemorations (graduations, Cinco de Mayo, etc)
  • Six days of vacation
  • Six days of campaigning
  • Six sports events

What a great display of Obama’s incompetence, lack of focus, irresponsibility, and lack of true concern.

Oh, but the grand finale is this video below….cleverly created as “Hey, Crude”….

One month after Obama says he “will not rest” until the crude is gone, he’s partying down with a bunch of lib stars and the ignoramus Bush-bashin’, America-insulting Paul McCartney….

Just havin’ a little Obama “I won’t rest” White House party while the Gulf goes to hell in a hand basket….

“Na….Na…Na…NaNaNaNa….NaNaNaNa…….Hey CRUDE…..”

Yet, the master of arrogance continues to lash out at BP, while ignoring his own role in cleaning up this mess.

Oh, and McCartney might have enjoyed his visit with the “Taxman” Obama, but many Americans think Paul should just shut his knighted self up when on our turf….read rebuttals Doug Powers filling in for Michelle Malkin, at the Washington Examiner, and from John Boehner.

As Nice Deb alluded to ….McCartney “apparently spent much of the night engaging in an embarrassing, (and now out of vogue),  leg tingling, obsequious manner“.

I guess Paul McCartney didn’t get the memo that the Americans who’ve put a lot of money in Sir Paul’s pocket no longer get leg tingles when having dreams nightmares of our inept, America-loathing President Obama!

Palin hammers home Obama’s incompetence on oil spill

Today Obama finally held a press conference after 300+ days since the last one. Of course, it contained the obligatory “Bush’s fault”, “not my fault”, and a dig at Sarah Palin.

Obama had this to say today about “Drill, Baby, Drill“:

“The fact that oil companies now have to go a mile under water and then drill another three miles below that in order to hit oil tells us something about the direction of the oil industry. Extraction is more expensive and it is going to be inherently more risky. And so that’s part of the reason you never heard me say, ‘Drill, baby, drill!

Not only is this a slam at Palin and her sensible stance that we must drill in order eliminate the need to be beholden to foreign oil, but he also mischaracterizes WHY oil companies have been forced to drill 50 miles off the coast.  It’s for the same reasons they can’t drill in ANWR and domestically…the environmentalist lobby.

Back to Palin….she doesn’t take anything that President “Plug the D*%m Hole” Obama says while sitting down.   Palin added this Facebook post this evening, just hours after Obama’s press conference and his attack on Palin:

Nearly 40 days in, our President finally addressed the American people’s growing concerns about the Gulf Coast oil spill. Listening to today’s press conference, you’d think the administration has been working with single-minded focus on the Gulf gusher since the start of the disaster. In reality, their focus has been anything but singular to help solve this monumental problem.

Then Sarah Palin asks:

If the President really was fully focused on this issue from day one, why did it take nine whole days before the administration asked the Department of Defense for help in deploying equipment needed for the extreme depth spill site?

Why was the expert group assembled by Energy Commissioner Steven Chu only set up three weeks after the start of this disaster?

Why was Governor Jindal forced more than a month after the start of the disaster to go on national television to beg for materials needed to tackle the oil spill and for federal approval to build offshore sand barriers that are imperative to protect his state’s coastline?

Why was no mention of the spill made by our President for days on end while Americans waited to hear if he grasped the import of his leadership on this energy issue?

Why have several countries and competent organizations who offered help or expertise in dealing with the spill not even received a response back from the Unified Area Command to this day?

And more of Palin laying the wood to Obama….

Listening to the President, you get the impression he is continually surprised by the inability of various centralized government agencies to get more involved and help solve problems. His lack of executive experience might explain this because he is apparently unaware that it’s his job as a chief executive to make sure they do their jobs and help solve problems.

The fundamental problem at the core of this crisis is a lack of responsibility. (I risk the President taking my comments personally, but they’re not intended to be personal; my comments reflect what many others feel, and we just want to help him tackle this enormous spill problem.) There’s a culture of buck-passing at the heart of this administration that has caused the tragedy of a sunken oil rig to turn into a potential disaster.

The 1990 Oil Pollution Act was drafted in response to the Exxon-Valdez spill in my home state. It created new procedures for offshore cleanups, specifically putting the federal government in charge of such operations. The President should have used the authority granted by the OPA – immediately – to take control of the situation. That is a big part of what the OPA is for – to designate who is in charge so finger-pointing won’t disrupt efforts to just “plug the d#*! hole.” But instead of immediately engaging with this crisis, our President chose to spend precious time on political pet causes like haranguing the state of Arizona for doing what he himself was supposed to do – secure the nation’s border. He also spent much time fundraising and politicking for liberal candidates and causes while we waited for him to grasp the enormity of the Gulf spill.

Now that the American people are calling him out on his lack of engagement with this disaster, the buck-passing is in full swing – and, unbelievably, his administration is still looking to blame his predecessor. Amazingly, even those of us who support energy independence for America are the brunt of some buck-passing.

He suggested today that a “culture of corruption” at the U.S. Minerals Management Service (MMS) was solely the previous administration’s responsibility and that the failure of the inspection system was a failure of that administration. That is false. The MMS has been his responsibility since January 20, 2009.

The MMS director who resigned today, Elizabeth Birnbaum, was appointed by his administration. And the most recent inspection of the oil rig took place a mere 10 days before the explosion – also very much on his watch, not President Bush’s.

You can read the rest of her post here including her calls for what should be done.

Go Palin!
