“Believers” and Boy Scouts need not be stimulated

This goes in the unbelievable AND UNCONSTITUTIONAL category….

I’m sure most liberals and Obama (but I repeat myself) could care less, but the Constitution says:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof…

Of course, as noted at RedState.com:

Barack Obama was the first President to recognize unbelievers in his inaugural address.

Anti-Christian blowhards

Anti-Christian blowhards

Part of the stimulus bill offers funds to schools, but explicitly states NO funds offered to schools that house or support religious programs, groups,  or services.

As noted at the Culture and Media Institute:

Both versions of the bill, the House version (H.R. 1) that passed on Jan. 28 by a 244-188 margin, without a single Republican vote, and the Senate version (S. 336), which will probably be voted on in the next few days – include language that would “prohibit” modernization, renovation, or repair of facilities:

  • (i) used for sectarian instruction, religious worship, or a school or department of divinity; or
  • (ii) in which a substantial portion of the functions of the facilities are subsumed in a religious mission

Such language is regrettable and could leave some institutions of higher learning susceptible to a legal action by organizations like the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) according to a spokesman from South Carolina Republican Sen. Jim DeMint’s office.

This is blatant anti-religious (Christian/Jewish) bias placed strategically in the Generational Theft Act by Democrats who loathe the religious and moral base of our country…not to mention their disdain for the Constitution and intentions of our founders.

I wonder if this tax-payer funded Muslim Charter School in Minnesotawill be receiving funds?  If I had to guess, it probably will with no pushback from Democrats, ACLU or Obama.

But worse, it appears this is explicitly written not only to keep religious groups off of school property (in the name of stimulus), but also to harass the Boy Scouts…the upstanding punching bag of the left.  From RedState:

The Boy Scouts has been a target of the left for a while. Though non-denominational, it has a strong sectarian influence in its rules, teachings, and beliefs structure.

According to the Supreme Court, the Boy Scouts can deny employment to gays because of the private nature of the organization. Ever since that decision, the left has tried to shut the scouts out of public buildings. The Democrats in Congress have taken up the shut down the scouts.

In both the House and Senate version of the stimulus there is a provision that is tailor made for the ACLU to shut down more boy scout troops, divinity schools, etc

Further from Red State:

What exactly is “a substantial portion”? If an organization lets the scouts meet in their facility, will they no longer be able to use government money to fix their building?

Will local school systems scared of losing funding shut down Christian student groups? Will schools that have religion departments shut down those departments lest they run afoul of the provisions?

In fact, the provision is so broad, it will very potentially have a chilling effect on all religious instruction and groups that have a religious affiliation. Never mind that Congress shall make no law prohibiting the free exercise of religion.

While every effort is made by liberals in this country to erase Christianity and our Judeo-Christian heritage from our schoolsand our lives they, in turn, expect us to believe that STD prevention, taxpayer funded abortions throughout the world, and millions given to the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) is supposed to stimulate our minds, our culture, and economy!  Hog wash!

Speaking of the controversial NEA, why not a similar clause for them?

Perhaps the we could all be spared this and this.  But I forgot…defaming Christ and desecrating the American Flag is free speech and “culturally profound”!?!  However, according to the current Congress, stifling religious expression and groups is stimulating!

Happy now  you 52% who voted for this filthy, corrupt “Hopenchange” anti-America, anti-Christian, Socialist movement you call Obama and Democratic leadership?

Hyp”O”Crites on Parade

Remember all of those “hopey”, “changey” promises and declarative statements from Obama over the past year?  Fa-ged-a-boud-it!

It has been, what, NINE days since the ascension inauguration and already the Hypocrisy is flowing like vodka martini’s in the White House….

#1 Sacrifice

What Obama says:  Obama told us WE will need to “sacrifice” to move the country forward.

What Obama does: $100 /serving wagyu steak and vodka martinis (Obama’s favorite) for him and his guests last night after the Theft Act of 2009 passed the House.  Sacrifice for thee, but not for me….What’s a few more hundreds of dollars after a $1 Trillion Socialist package passes?

#2 Global Warming

What Obama said on the campaign trail:   “We can’t drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times … and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK,” Obama said.   “That’s not leadership. That’s not going to happen,” he added..

What Obama does:  Cranks up the Oval Office thermostat so much that jackets are not required.   (wonder if the traditional respect for the Oval Office shown by wearing jacket and tie went out the same window Obama tried to enter this week?)  David Axelrod, who occupies the small but strategically located office next door to his boss. “He likes it warm. You could grow orchids in there.”  Heat for me, but not for thee.

#3 Transparency

What Obama said: Obama promised a new era of government openness as he took office last week, issuing a statement telling agencies “to adopt a presumption in favor of disclosure”

What Obama does: No response to requests for a list of securities the Treasury backed for $419 billion used in bank bailouts.   Also, NO transcripts from press briefings have been provided (these were always provided in the Bush admin in a timely manner, but Obama accused Bush of not being open….Ha!)

obama-inauguration-poster#4 Responsibility

What Obama says: Spending will have to be cut and some government programs will go away

What Obama does: Spends over 300% more on his ascension inauguration ($150,000,000)than the previous president ($42 million) ….during an economic “crisis” as dubbed by him.  We can’t cut the expense in programs where millions worship The One, however.

#5 Supporting the Troops

What Obama claims: He claims he supports the troops, military families and their service

What Obama does: In the excitement of adoration of Dear Leader,Obama skips the military ball for Medal of Honor winners on inauguration night…. From Cleveland Leader, “It was the party without all of the celebrities that Obama skipped. The very people who he sought to have support him during his candidacy and campaign, who have fought to protect this country, were snubbed in favor of publicity and the opportunity to rub shoulders – yet again – with the out-of-touch Hollywood elite.

Unfortunately, this will not be the end of it….after all, he is a liberal Chicago Democrat.

“O” the Irony: Obama tells Republicans to keep “politics” out of the “Generational Theft Act of 2009”

obama-the-egomanicIn meeting with Republicans on Tuesday – Obama’s so-called “bipartisan” efforts – Obama told Republicans to keep politics out of the “Generational Theft Act of 2009” (as dubbed by Michelle Malkin).

Never mind, that the Act is ALL ABOUT POLITICS — an attempt to use a “crisis” in order to retain power for Dems for years ahead and giving favors back to Democrat/Liberal causes who got them all elected!  (abortion/sex ed /STD groups, National Endowment for the Arts, ACORN, the list goes on and on)….

From Yahoo.com, Obama’s comments in the meeting with Republicans on Capitol Hill:

“I don’t expect one hundred percent agreement from my Republican colleagues,” Obama said as fevered political maneuvering on Capitol Hill contrasted with the euphoria of his inauguration there a week before.  (SRT: GAG!)

“But I do hope that we can all put politics aside and do the American people’s business,” the president said in a time-honored appeal for Washington to overcome its bitter partisan divisions.

In the words of Obama’s White House Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel last November:

“Never let a serious crisis go to waste. What I mean by that is it’s an opportunity to do things you couldn’t do before.”

Nah….no Democrat politics in this “use a crisis to gain votes” bill….

Of course, Obama doesn’t NEED Republicans to vote for the bill – he has majorities in both houses…but only needs them for POLITICAL reasons.  Obama wants to be able to claim Republicans approved the bill and try to neutralize Republicans when the astronomical spending plan extends, or at the very least, doesn’t change the current recession and economic issues.

Other nuggets of faux honesty from the “Dear Leader” Obama while in the meeting.  From Jake Tapper at ABC:

“I would love to not have to spend this money,” the president said, underlining that he has no interest in increasing the size of government just to increase the size of government.

Liar, liar, pants on fire….of course he doesn’t want to increase government for the heck of it, but he does want to increase government to keep and retain power by making the sheeple increasingly dependent upon the government monster.  No liberal worth a dime has “not wanted to spend” OUR money!  Again, Obama’s words from Tapper:

But, he said, he has talked to many economists who told him almost uniformly that they needed to get a stimulus bill up and running as soon as possible to avoid double-digit unemployment, thus they put together a package with both direct spending and tax cuts.

Always remembers that most of what Obama refers to as tax cuts are not tax cuts at all….they consist largely of credits to those who never paid the tax in the first place….you know…welfare…what did I say about dependency on government?

CBO Stimulus spending chart 1-28-09In addition, the the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has released information that says only 21% of the SPENDING will enter the economy before 2010.  Does that sound URGENT to you?  Of course not.

In addition, as noted at Betsy’s Page, the spending that is supposed to “create” jobs is skewed towards those industries that have lower current unemployment, but not largely geared toward those areas with the most jobs lost:

Alan Reynolds (of Wall Street Journal) notes that the spending bill is skewed towards sectors of the economy that are not experiencing a downturn in the ways that the manufacturing sector is.

House Democrats propose to spend $550 billion of their two-year, $825 billion “stimulus bill” (the rest of it being tax cuts). Most of the spending is unlikely to be timely or temporary. Strangely, most of it is targeted toward sectors of the economy where unemployment is the lowest.

The December unemployment rate was only 2.3% for government workers and 3.8% in education and health. Unemployment rates in manufacturing and construction, by contrast, were 8.3% and 15.2% respectively. Yet 39% of the $550 billion in the bill would go to state and local governments. Another 17.3% would go to health and education — sectors where relatively secure government jobs are also prevalent.

If the intent of the plan is to alleviate unemployment, why spend over half of the money on sectors where unemployment is lowest? Another 22.5% of the $550 billion would go to social programs, such as expanding food stamps and extending benefits for the unemployed and subsidizing their health insurance.

After subtracting what House Democrats hope to spend on government payrolls, health, education and welfare, only a fifth of the original $550 billion is left for notoriously slow infrastructure projects, such as rebuilding highways and the electricity grid.

Quite a nice way to reward the government employees who vote overwhelmingly for the Democrats.

I’ll ask the same question as Reynolds again — If the intent of the plan is to alleviate unemployment and spur the economy, why spend over half of the money on sectors where unemployment is lowest?

Answer:  Because Obama and Democrats are inserting POLITICS into the process and in doing so must create MANY government jobs and programs in attempting to retain their power.

Growth in government jobs helps the Democrats…most government and union workers vote for Democrats.  From WSJ’s “A 40 Year Wish List” (hat tip to Belmont Club):

Most of the rest of this project spending will go to such things as renewable energy funding ($8 billion) or mass transit ($6 billion) that have a low or negative return on investment. Most urban transit systems are so badly managed that their fares cover less than half of their costs. However, the people who operate these systems belong to public-employee unions that are campaign contributors to . . . guess which party?

Reagan knew how to clear out government pork and clutter!

Reagan knew how to clear out government pork and clutter!

Another attempt by Obama to invoke conservative words while promoting his liberal/socialist “crisis opportunity”.  His words to Republicans..he even invokes Reagan while trying to say spending works better than tax cuts:

Mentioning conservative economist Martin Feldstein, the chief economic adviser to President Ronald Reagan, Obama said this spending will have a more stimulative effect than will tax credits. For every dollar of spending, we get 1.5 dollars’ worth of stimulus, he said. For every dollar of tax cuts, we get 75 cents’ worth of stimulus.

Question for the Great Intelligent One:

If tax cuts don’t revive economies as abundantly as spending and you are using Reagan’s economic adviser as some sort of proof….then why did Reagan drastically cut taxes and, therefore, achieve a level of wealth creation, economic recovery and increases in the treasury at unprecedented levels?  Obama, are you suggesting that this record Reagan recovery would have happened much faster with spending in place of those tax cuts?  Your very own party, the Democrats, screamed at every turn when Reagan added to the deficit with spending.

This Obama argument is stupid at worst, misleading at best.

For many more Obama tidbits, read the rest of Jake Tapper’s review for the rest of the liberal/socialist defense by Obama all cloaked in conservative language.

In closing, one Republican with the guts to speak truth to “THE ONE” was applauded for his words yesterday. From Gateway Pundit as reported by Jake Tapper at ABC:

Rep. Roscoe Bartlett, R-Md.: “Mr. President, I probably come at this from a slightly different perspective. I remember when FDR beat Hoover in 1932. So I remember the Great Depression very well. I don’t remember any of the many government programs affecting the course of the Depression. Government programs didn’t work then, I don’t know why we think they would work now.Mr. President, I think our obsessive borrowing has fully mortgaged my kids and my grandkids. Now we’re working on mortgaging my two great-grandkids. Mr. President, I think it’s more than a little bit selfish to try to solve our economic problems which we created by burdening future generations yet to be born.” *

This prompted applause.

Amen…but odds are the spoken truth went right over the heads of Obama and his liberal counterparts.

Call your representative and let them know what you think of the bill and their (impending) vote….then start hounding your Senator and let them know you don’t want any part of this Theft Act unless it actually contains MOSTLY tax cuts for spurring recovery.
