New Hampshire House votes to defund Planned Parenthood

Some really good news in what is seemingly a world of bad news in this country.

The New Hampshire House of Representatives on Wednesday morning voted to put Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers at the bottom of the list of eligible recipients of state family planning funds, further frustrating efforts by the Obama administration to keep the local abortion branch afloat.

Lawmakers passed HB 228 by a margin of 207 to 147, prioritizing state-controlled family planning dollars away from abortion providers such as Planned Parenthood. The funding is now prioritized to public and private entities that provide comprehensive health care to women and do not perform abortions.

……“It is time to get New Hampshire taxpayers out of the abortion business,” said Michael Tierney, an Alliance Defense Fund-allied attorney in Manchester, New Hampshire. “Planned Parenthood’s business model is centered on abortion, and New Hampshire taxpayers want no part in it.”

The measure still must be approved by the State Senate.

Hooray for New Hampshire.

  1. Great News!!!

Too many timid Republicans believe that by watering down/compromising on our beliefs and values we can move to the center and gain more votes from the alleged/supposed Independents or blue collar Republicans.
this cannot be further from the truth.
We must articulate are fundamental beliefs and lead the voters to those beliefs instead of kowtowing and being Democrats lite…
    These beliefs are:
    1. Pro-Life
    2. Pro 1 man-1 woman marriage
    3. Pro death penalty
    4. Pro prayer in the school and public square
    5. Pro small, open [and honest] government
    6. Pro strong defense

The further away we stray from these core beliefs, the more we have to beg for votes and end up losing the moral high ground!

  2. I meant Blue Collar Democrats (Reagan Democrats)… First mistake this year…

  3. “centered on abortion”

nice rhetorical shtick there to get all the republican rage-aholics on board. but i don’t know of any business which centers its business model on something that constitutes less than 15% of its total budget. but i suppose 1 abortion ever would constitue a business model “centered on abortion” from the republican perspective and warrant throwing the baby out with the bath water, as it were

and how in the name of all that is good left in this world can you possibly claim the moral high ground in one sentence, be “pro death penalty” in the next, and espouse the teachings of jesus immediately after, all in the same paragraph???

  4. wtf…

From the right wing media: NPR…
One in 10 of its clients receive abortions. If you are pregnant, 98% of its services go towards abortion. A quarter of abortions occurring in this nation are performed by Planned Parenthood clinics…
When you look at $ distribution, it’s tilted toward abortion even more per “visitor”.

To your Life and Death Penalty statement:

    1. Life killed in the womb is innocent and godly… They are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights…

    2. One who has wantonly killed his brother/sister, has lost that right and Caesar (not God) is glad to oblige… Forgiving does not mean exonerating or forgetting…
