Wasn’t this new President supposed to be the “hope and change” breath-of-fresh-air that 53% of us have been waiting for?
And wasn’t this going to be a transparent Presidency?
And didn’t Obama preach about bipartisanship?
If the first few days of the Obama Empire are any example, like Jekyll and Hyde, it appears that Dr. Hopey Changey of campaign rhetoric has changed into Mr. Haughty ‘N. Arrogant, King of America!
Dr. Hopey Changey was to meet with some GOP leaders on Friday…..but Mr. Arrogant showed up and had this to say about conversative talk show host Rush Limbaugh:
“You can’t just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done,” he told top GOP leaders, whom he had invited to the White House to discuss his nearly $1 trillion stimulus package.
One White House official confirmed the comment but said he was simply trying to make a larger point about bipartisan efforts. “There are big things that unify Republicans and Democrats,” the official said. “We shouldn’t let partisan politics derail what are very important things that need to get done.”
Rush had an excellent response to this arrogant attack made by a sitting President and directed at a specific, unelected citizen of this country….that is a story unto itself.
So Obama proclaims partisan politics are out….. but it seems that so-called “bipartisan” thing doesn’t last long with Dr. Changey when a Republican like Eric Cantor has a suggestions for tax cuts or is critical of the Socialist spending program outlined by Obama and Dems.
You see… a REAL suggestion for bipartisanship just won’t do…either grab onto the Democrat Stimuli Expressor you aren’t a bipartisan!…..and by the way Mr. Arrogant has a few words to remind you who is King, Mr. Cantor. Obama to Cantor:
“I won. I will trump you on that.”
As James Joyner at Outside the Beltway explains about the haughty Obama:
….he (Obama) was elected president, not king — or even prime minister. He’s easily the most powerful figure in American politics but he’s just the head of one branch of government.
…..But, given that he desperately wants broad support for his stimulus package so as to spread the blame if things don’t go well, he’ll need to compromise
Nail –> Head.
Today we find that Obama, the great hero “Transparency Man”, has “stared down” a Politico reporter for simply asking a question about one of Obama’s picks, a defense industry lobbyist….you know, the types of harmful people Obama was supposed to be extracting from his Kingdom….
President Obama paid a surprise visit to members of the White House press corps Thursday evening when he walked through their working area of the West Wing, but he quickly became agitated when he was confronted with a question by one of the journalists.
Obama was willing to field lighter questions, though.
According to reports, when the Politico’s Jonathan Martin asked the president about his nominee for deputy secretary of defense, William Lynn, Obama refused to answer, saying he was not there to take questions.
“I came down here to visit. I didn’t come down here — this is what happens. I can’t end up visiting you guys and shaking hands if I am going to grilled every time I come down here,” the president said.
Pressed further by the Politico reporter about his Pentagon nominee, Obama turned more serious, putting his hand on the reporter’s shoulder and staring him in the eye.
“All right, come on,” he said, with obvious irritation in his voice. “We will be having a press conference, at which time you can feel free to [ask] questions. Right now, I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself to you guys — that’s all I was trying to do,” Politico.com reported.
The situation came to a close when a cameraman in the room interrupted, declaring: “I’d like to say it one more time: ‘Mr. President.'”
The nominee in question, William Lynn, is a former lobbyist for defense contractor Raytheon, a pick Obama made in contradiction to his much-heralded anti-lobbying rules.
Of course….he will take the questions that mean nothing…here is what he did answer:
Yes, he’s discovered the gym in the White House residence. No, he hasn’t played basketball yet on the outdoor White House court because it’s been too cold.
If the questions Obama agrees to answer, even on the fly, are any indication, it sounds to me like the “softball” field will be used by Obama most of all….
