I guess buying a Democrat’s access to the White House to the tune of $600 million, stealing a Democratic Senate seat in Minnesota, and having handy majorities in the House and Senate are not enough for Nancy Pelosi.
Nancy Pelosi is changing the rules in the House so that minority Republicans will not be able to offer alternative legislation in the House. In addition, she is doing away with the term limits on Committee Chairs allowing reps to stay put in those seats until retirement.
Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and her Democrat allies are poised to rewrite House rules today, ending term limits for committee chairmen and curtailing a procedural motion for Republicans to offer alternative legislation. Changing the rules will make it easier for Democrats to raise taxes without opposition.
Pelosi’s maneuvers are the latest sign that she has abandoned her promise to “create the most honest, most open, and most ethical Congress in history.” By limiting the minority’s ability to offer alternative legislation on the House floor, Pelosi is shutting down one of the few legislative weapons Republicans have at their disposal. Ending term limits means many chairman will weild the gavel until they retire or die.
Before you liberals start slobbering and spouting “majority rules”, the House Republicans in 1995 wrote the rules for allowing minority opposition under Gingrich and minority Democrats were allowed for their 12 years to use the “motion to recommit” that Pelosi is now taking away from the now-Republican minority.
These people (including Pelosi, Reid, Obama, and their ilk) don’t believe in fairness or representation of any kind (majority or minority)—their only interest is their power and keeping it…citizens be damned.
