Two examples of the Left’s “Unity” and “Tolerance”

The left is always touting how they are on the side of tolerance, flush with calls for Kumbaya unity with the very same people they have trashed for the last 8 years…all because Obamunity has been elected.

Want a couple of examples of that peace, love and Kumbaya?  Just in the last few days we have a seemingly benign, but effective, example and a potentially dangerous example.

The very effective example comes to us courtesy of Catherine Vogt, a 14-year old 8th grader in  Chicago.  From Chicago Tribune (H/T: Michelle Malkin):

She noticed that fellow students at Gwendolyn Brooks Middle School overwhelmingly supported Barack Obama for president. His campaign kept preaching “inclusion,” and she decided to see how included she could be.

So just before the election, Catherine consulted with her history teacher, then bravely wore a unique T-shirt to school and recorded the comments of teachers and students in her journal. The T-shirt bore the simple yet quite subversive words drawn with a red marker:  “McCain Girl.”…

….Immediately, Catherine learned she was stupid for wearing a shirt with Republican John McCain’s name. Not merely stupid. Very stupid.

People were upset. But they started saying things, calling me very stupid, telling me my shirt was stupid and I shouldn’t be wearing it,” Catherine said.

Then it got worse.

“One person told me to go die. It was a lot of dying. A lot of comments about how I should be killed,” Catherine said, of the tolerance in Oak Park.

But students weren’t the only ones surprised that she wore a shirt supporting McCain.

“In one class, I had one teacher say she will not judge me for my choice, but that she was surprised that I supported McCain,” Catherine said….

He said, ‘You should be crucifixed.’ It was kind of funny because, I was like, don’t you mean ‘crucified?’ ” Catherine said.

Other entries in her notebook involved suggestions by classmates that she be “burned with her shirt on” for “being a filthy-rich Republican.”

Some said that because she supported McCain, by extension she supported a plan by deranged skinheads to kill Obama before the election. And I thought such politicized logic was confined to American newsrooms. Yet Catherine refused to argue with her peers. She didn’t want to jeopardize her experiment….

……That’s when you know America is truly supportive of diversity of opinion, when children must whisper for fear of being ostracized, heckled and crucifixed…..

…..The next day, in part 2 of The Brave Catherine Vogt Experiment, she wore another T-shirt, this one with “Obama Girl” written in blue. And an amazing thing happened.

Catherine wasn’t very stupid anymore. She grew brains.

“People liked my shirt. They said things like my brain had come back, and I had put the right shirt on today,” Catherine said…

…and she turned her journal into a report for her history teacher, earning Catherine extra credit. We asked the teacher, Norma Cassin-Pountney, whether it was ironic that Catherine would be subject to such intolerance from pro-Obama supporters in a community that prides itself on its liberal outlook.

Second example?   Now for the immature, imbecilic nature of the radical, homosexual Left….I wonder when their antics will warrant charges of HATE crime?

Oh, silly me…I forgot….that crime is meant only for those who look at a homosexual the wrong way lest they get their pantyhose in a wad…..homosexuals who act like Bill Ayers in drag are just exercising their rights to “free speech”, I guess…

Message to those inciting violence….Grow up…you are not helping your cause.

Churches Threatened (“Burn the F&*%ing churches”)

  1. Priceless!

    Lefties…any comments?

  2. “Now for the immature, imbecilic nature of the radical, homosexual Left….”

Is that supposed to be an insult? Is the word “Homosexual” itself evil? Then again it doesn’t surprise me, coming from a blog that of late likes to complain about “Violence” when this site itself is FULL of hate and ignorance.

I do have a response. So… I suppose that since Mccain’s rallies had numerous death threats, racial slurs, and other remarks that caused the secret service to get involved were a-ok? That there’s Democrats out there making some inappropriate remarks must make us even? Is that really what this is all about? getting “revenge” and slinging tit-for-tat remarks?

Listen- I don’t approve of what people above were doing… but I also don’t approve of the equally heinous remarks and actions made by Republican side. BOTH are at fault.

    Please… GROWThe FU(K UP!

  3. I think Laura Ingraham would love this story to share on her radio talk show.

  4. Ed,
    If the imbecilic shoe fits…..
The people threatening churches, Mormons and Christians are acting like immature, imbeciles who didn’t get their way….oh, and most of them are homosexuals….and their behavior is radical.
Me thinks you need to put a pair of objective glasses on.
There is nothing hateful about stating the truth.

Ed, let’s now talk about hate when you try to defend actions that threat other people, property and faiths…just because they don’t agree with you and used their vote to say so.

And let’s not talk about ignorance when youc an’t get your facts straight….there were NOT numerous death threats and racial slurs at McCain events.
The one the media and Obama campaign touted was proven to be untrue…albeit after people like yourself soaked it in and took it as fact.
Did you not see McCain call his own supporter out at an event because she called Obama a Muslim? You only see what you want to see.

    Who needs to grow up?

  5. Ed,

The reports about “threats to Obama” during McCain’s campaign rallies turned out to be false, the Secret Service was present at every one of these events.

Regardless, you would equate what is said by someone in the crowd at a campaign rally with the harassment of a kid by other students and even teachers? Dude, you have issues.

  6. As Michelle Malkin and other site authors have attested, this sort of violent intolerance is nothing new.

Two short examples. As a network engineer working for a large (largest) ISP at the time, I was working during the 200 election and as the ballot tally favorably bounced from one candidate to another, the tension in the NOC was palpable with most employees supporting Kerry. When Pres. Bush finally jumped ahead, I (up to then silent) uttered a quiet praise for what looked like a win and was greeted with death threats almost immediately! Seriously, I was told, “I should burn in hell”, “I should just die!” This from co-workers of four-five years or more.

Fast forward to 2004 and I’m teaching at a local HS with a changed career and you can imagine the comments I received from both staff and students during that election.

All for voicing my opinions clearly and politely, the same way they voiced their own, (albeit less boisterously) the intolerant liberals wanted me dead. Moreover, frighteningly, I know they meant it. This based on comments about a teacher who was killed in a car accident later that year. Unsurprisingly horrid comments saying (she deserved to die) were often heard because she’d supported Pres. Bush.

This is what is being taught in our schools now, heaven forbid.
