OUT OF THE PARK!

Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin hit it out of the park tonight.

UPDATE: Another thought…..my husband had the best way of looking at this excellent and well-delivered speech:

This speech was more than just “red meat” for the masses.

A moose named Obama/Biden ’08 was slaughtered and field-dressed right there on the stage…all done with a smile and a very skilled knife.

She spoke the truth about the other party and the Obama/Biden ticket….all while wearing a smile.

Sure the left and the media will whine that “she was mean”.  They’ve already started.  Besides, those who have to stare truth in the face sometimes react that way.

The thing is Sarah Palin said what needed to be said about Obama in front a national audience.    And she spoke it from truth and with words straight from Obama’s mouth…..

Read the full text of her speech here.

Further, those same lefties and MSM thought it fine to attack Sarah Palin and her family with lies, exaggerated tales and attacks on her children…..Guess that is fine, though….

Sarah Palin is the one to watch.  Classy lady, wonderful role model, smart, professional and tough….and, from all I’ve seen, the best pick for McCain’s VP.

There should be no doubts at all about McCain’s judgement or her readiness.

McCain/Palin 2008!

  1. Without a doubt, the finest delivery of a political speech by a Republican since Reagan.

  2. I can’t believe GBS said that . . . but maybe it’s just me. I thought it was very poorly delivered. She was very nervous at the beginning and sounded like she was just reading a script.

Her speech was extremely insulting . . . I expected attacks on issues, but her and Giuliani just mocked Obama. It wasn’t “classy” at all. She came off as very arrogant to me. I kind of liked Palin (though I’d never vote for McCain) before this speech, too.

  3. She is what this Country Needs, as VP, a backbone and someone who will fight. Most Left Wing idiots will try and slash cut her down with their remarks but they know this Election is Done !!

McCain/Palin will Win, Why, because they are a Strong Team who will Fight for the people of this Country and the United States. They will not let the World or You tell us what to say or do.

I thought Palin’s speech hit home like a knife to the heart. She said what onone has the B@@@ to say. The Democ are running scared and have nothing in their Corner. They want a Fight, they have a Fight.

  4. I can admit Palin is a good speaker and she knew what to say to arouse her special crowd.

    Go OBAMA/BIDEN!

  5. She was reading a script… Having heard her in person addressing the Alaska state legislature and various other venues, I couldn’t help but notice that this speech had a distinctly non-Palin flavor and tone to it. They also changed her voice, filtering it so that her voice was missing the high end, which sometimes comes across as screetchy.
I would agree with dennymajor, her speech was insulting. More mudslinging than substance.

  6. denny and wilco278,

When your opponents biggest achievement is speech with all of the mood of Greek Theatre, you are asking to be mocked.

After the insulting, untrue, and nasty lies and rumors about Palin and her family in the last 5 days, you say she was nasty and insulting?

Come on….the MSM and left nutroots wrote the book on insulting and Palin’s speech wasn’t it.

Further, just about every counter to Obama’s plans or views included a reference to words that came out of Obama’s mouth.

How that is rude and insulting is beyond me.

  7. She delivered !!!!!!!! Do you know of anyone that could out do her tonight, I dont ??? She hit a Grand Slam

Do try to degrade her by showing your lack of confidence in yourself and Party

  8. dennymajor,

    Yep….it’s you.

If you are a Democrat, yes…there was lots of mud…and blood…and more than a little truth. I realize that can sting a bit. That is the nature of a political convention speech. What we saw from the DNC last week was no different.

On second thought…considering what Gov Palin and her family have endured over the past few days, don’t talk to me about insults, mudslinging, or being “classy”.

A script? By that, I suppose you mean her speech was prepared beforehand? Is that supposed to be a criticism? Politicians don’t prepare their remarks in advance? After what we’ve seen from Obama over the past year and half, don’t try to go there…you make yourself look silly.

    wilco278,

Maybe Hillary could get that magic sound mixer to help with HER voice?

  9. This miss Palin is a dangerous religious fanatic. When she becomes president, and we all know McCain is old and not to healthy, i’m afraid we will see WW3. She is just as God-crazy, arrogant and agressive as Khameini and Ahmadinejad, and if she gets in charge the entire States, and the rest of the world will suffer.
All that makes her lack of experience and her questionable integrity a very minor issue.
Please USA, please make sure that this woman’s hands will néver be even remotely close to the red button. The capital of Alaska is close enough.

  10. She was awesome. She spoke straight talk and told it like it is. It’s about time someone talked about Obama the way he REALLY is.

  11. Werner,
    Get a grip.

I haven’t heard Palin profess to making one of her goals the annihilation of another country or countries.

Until she does that, i think your anti-Christian, baseless accusations should remain in your head and with KosKid buddies.

  12. Hasn’t she said that the war in Iraq was a duty that God gave the US Army?
Believing in God is 1 thing, fighting in his name another. Throwing a country to war in the name of God is disgusting and very dangerous.
Don’t think I’m anti-war in any case. If the security of your country is under threat, than you can consider it. But the reasons must be human, and God shouldn’t interfere with worldly affairs.

  13. Werner,
You are hard to take seriously because you are now spouting the most recent talking points of the Left and Daily Kos.

This attack is just the next in line of many to come, I’m sure, from the Left.

Attack a woman because she is Christian and has encouraged other Christians, including soldiers going to battle…..

I suppose you believe that Obama’s pastor’s rants were fine, though….and I bet you also believe that Obama really didn’t agree with nor listen to his pastor for 20 years.

  14. BTW, she also want Americans to pray for gaspipes!

And I don’t think those pastors rants are fine, as I don’t think any pastors tales are fine. Luckily I haven’t heard Obama use them to base his policy’s on. I hope that stays that way if he is to become president.

But if he does, that is, from my western European view, not as bad, since that will be something inside America. If Palin get’s her say, the whole world will suffer.

  15. Werner,
If you actually listened to that you would understand that she was asking for prayers for protection of our troops …..not “throwing a country to war in God’s name.”

(It is our enemies that want to kill in Allah’s name….please don’t confuse Christians with radical Islam…..)

On the gaspipe video, I heard her ask for prayers for God’s Will….not pray specifically for the pipeline.
In any case, if she did ask for Christians to pray about a pipeline, what is the big deal?
Why does that irk you so much?

FYI- There are MANY MANY people in this country who pray for God’s guidance…..if you can’t deal with that in a country where it is free to practice religion, then I suggest that you either stay or go back to western Europe.

I am a Christian and I am sick and tired of people like yourself acting as if praying and believing in God, even asking for his guidance, is some kind of nutcase scandal. (For those that prefer religious nutcake scandals go sit the pew of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago with Obama)

Speaking of Obama….he attended a forum at the Saddleback Church in California and was interviewed by a PASTOR…..
Obama has also spoken at the Trintiy United Church of Christ (and others) .
Did those actions bother you at all?….or is it just bothersome when a Republican conservative Christian like Palin speaks in a church?

  16. Democrats/Lefties seem to have a reaction to the name “Reagan” similar to that of a vampire around garlic or a crucifix.

I didn’t even say she was Reagan…just that her speech was the best BY A REPUBLICAN SINCE REAGAN. That, when you think about it, is almost a “damning with feint praise”. I haven’t seen anyone in the last 20 years on the Republican side who was worth much behind a microphone. I didn’t even try to elevate her beyond skilled Democrat orators such as Bill Clinton or Barack Obama. However, I’m not the only one seeing the similarity.

    From Associated Press…

“But the former TV sportscaster spoke in calm, TV-friendly tones reminiscent of Ronald Reagan. Like the former GOP president, Palin warmed the crowd with quips and jokes.”

  18. Well, I guess Obama’s not the only one that attends a church where silly things are said. At Palin’s Wasilla Bible Church – a speaker shared the viewpoint that, “…violence against Israelis resulted from God’s judgment against Jews who have failed to embrace Jesus…” Silly Jews! Just convert to Christianity and all will be well! Mel Gibson would be proud. But let me guess – you’re going to say Palin has distanced herself from those viewpoints. Well, Obama did the same thing for Wright’s comments at his church and you still hold his feet to fire for that. Gimme a break with your double standard. If you don’t think Palin should be held accountable for someone else’s words, then stop holding Obama accountable for the same thing… that is unless you agree with the comments made at Palin’s church, then we’re on a whole different tangent.

  19. Nice speech, but in the end, it turns out a few of her key points were just words on a teleprompter indeed:

“To the families of special-needs children all across this country, I have a message for you: For years, you’ve sought to make America a more welcoming place for your sons and daughters. And I pledge to you that, if we’re elected, you will have a friend and advocate in the White House.”

As governor of Alaska, she cut funding to special needs children, concerning both education and services, by 60%.

“I told the Congress, “Thanks, but no thanks,” on that Bridge to Nowhere.”

Actually, before she said no, she said yes to that Bridge to Nowhere – using that as part of her campaign platform for governor of Alaska.

And that jet she sold on ebay? Nope – sold it privately, for a loss unlike McCain’s rehash of the story in a campaign stop today, saying that she sold it for a profit.

You really like to nitpick Obama’s words and regurgitate the bad ones on your website over and over like they are the only things he’s ever said – while Palin can do no wrong. Oh, and the best part is – I didn’t see any commentary on McCain’s speech. That was a great speech – especially the part about saying in effect – Hey Republicans – we really effed up the last 8 years. But gimme a chance – lookey, lookey – I’ve got Palin now. So all you right wingers that didn’t like me that much – now you can vote for me in good conscience… even though she’s number TWO on the ticket. You’re right about one thing though… she’s got more executive experience than Obama and Biden…. and McCain. Whoops, why do Republicans always leave that last part out?

You know what’s one of the funniest things I’ve heard from Republicans lately? All of a sudden, Alaska is the MOST important state in the union. Because it sounds good when they say, “She is governor of the most important state in the union.” I heard a right winger on the radio say, “Without the state of Alaska, our whole economy would collapse.” OMG I was rolling on the floor laughing after that zinger. Seward’s Folly is now the savior of our country. LOL.

  20. funwithpolitics,

Nice little tantrum. I know it sucks when you get back some of what your side has been dishing out. I have yet to hear Obama (or his supporters) cite one ‘fact’ or statistic that hasn’t been warped and/or removed from proper context to advance his own message. This site doesn’t pretend to be “fair and balanced”…and neither does the Daily Kos or anything else on the Left.

Positions and priorities change. Sometimes it is called a “flip-flop”, sometimes it’s simply a reassessment based on new information. It all depends on one’s perspective, doesn’t it?

McCain/Palin selling themselves as reformers may sound like a stretch to some, but at least it is done from the perspective of “America is good…let’s make it better”. Obama/Biden’s “change” message is that “America sucks”…hire us and all will be healed. We’ve seen this movie before. You tell me which message, the positive one or the negative, usually works the best?

I don’t know about Alaska being the MOST important state, but it’s up there. A large percentage of our domestic production comes from there. If it hadn’t been bought, Russia would be sitting in our back yard pulling that oil out for itself (including ANWR). Mr. Seward did just fine arranging that purchase.

OBTW…I’ve never heard Palin or McCain say the jet was sold on Ebay, just that it was put up for sale there. What is the difference between Ebay and a “private” sale anyway? Selling a used airplane for a loss is somehow surprising? Who’s spinning now?

  21. GBS,

Tantrum? I don’t know about that. I was in a pretty good mood when I wrote it… And yes, McCain did say yesterday that the jet was sold on ebay… for profit – not a spin, just statement of fact. Not a big deal, just trying to keep ’em honest like you would do for Obama.

As for flip-flops… I guess it’s a “flip-flop” when a Democrat changes their position, but it’s a “reassessment” when a Republican changes their position… talk about spin.

I’m sure we can agree that America is the greatest nation on Earth. I’m sure BOTH McCain and Obama feel the same way. However what you interpret as “America sucks” (your words, not Obama’s) is really the message that: it sucks that hundreds of thousands of people are losing their homes in this mortgage crisis, it sucks that we almost got to $5.00 per gallon of gas(yes I know gas prices have come down, but they’ve just started coming right back up), it sucks that yesterday it was reported that the unemployement rate has gone up nationwide, and it really sucks that we’ve still got boys and girls dying in Iraq for botched intelligence reports.

Obama and Biden are talking about these issues. The only things I’ve heard from McCain and Palin(or the way this site looks, it should be Palin and McCain) are his record as a veteran and POW(very admirable, but not an issue of the day), bridges to nowhere(a good metaphor of McCain and Palin – sorry, cheapshot but had to get it in there), private jets, and “We are mavericks.” Well, at least I can say Palin was right right about one thing for sure – “Thanks, but no thanks…”

  22. funwithpolitics,

“As for flip-flops… I guess it’s a “flip-flop” when a Democrat changes their position, but it’s a “reassessment” when a Republican changes their position… talk about spin.”

Like I said, it all depends on one’s perspective, doesn’t it?

You, me, and McCain may all agree about America being the greatest nation, but I concluded a while ago that Obama is still thinking it over.

Hundreds of thousands of people you say? Out of nation of 300 million. Where’d you come up with that figure? It doesn’t sound very high.

News bulletin…Foreclosures have ALWAYS occurred. Yes, they have been more prevalent recently. Why? Is it because of the mean ‘ol Republicans? Could it be that some people bit off more than they could chew, believed that HISTORICALLY low interest rates would continue on indefinitely, and maybe even thought that Uncle Sam might bail them out?

Yes…gasoline is high. Could it have something to do with the ever-increasing national debt, which tends to cause the value of the dollar to fall? Could it have something to do with our failure (that would be EVERYONE’s) to develop more domestic production while we’re consuming all that gasoline? Democrats drive HUGE SUVs just the same as Republicans. Whenever a Democrat talks about energy policy, all I hear is wind, solar, and greenhouse gas emission credits. Not terribly progressive OR practical.

Yes, the unemployment rate is ticking up…it recently rose to nearly 6%. It sounds really bad because the rate for most of the last decade has averaged around 5% (plus or minus a couple of tenths). Historically, these rates are low. It rarely gets below 4.5% without some significant potential for wage & price inflation. If you are old enough, you can remember back to the late 1970s when it was around 10% (that would be in the “bad category). Check the stats for yourself.

Boys and girls still dying for botched intel reports? Are you talking about Iraq, Afghanistan, or both? Were they botched? If so, by whom? Careful with your answer, it’s kind of a trick question. Does it really make that much difference at this point? The important thing is prevailing in BOTH of these conflicts. Senator McCain believes that, and I even think that Senator Obama is coming around. That’s what one would call a “reassessment based on new information”.

  23. Thanks for making my point GBS – i thought the state of the union was bad, but after your post – it really does SUCK! And all thanks to the guy I’m pretty sure you voted for – George Bush(unless GBS stands for George Bush Sucks, then nevermind)…. and McCain will bring about 90% of the same politics in to play if he’s voted in.

As for a nation of 300 million – you’re absolutely right! Foreclosures are in the millions, not hundreds of thousands(must’ve got those numbers from a state report) – we’re so much worse off than I thought.

I guess that going from 5% to 6% unemployment is just a measely 1% increase to you… but 1% of the current workforce is approx. 600,000 people, but it doesn’t sound like it concerns you that much(I’m sure those 600,000 and the other 9 million unemployed are pretty concerned though). Oh well, doesn’t concern McCain either. He’s too busy talking about Palin and jets on ebay to have time to talk to the voters about the issues. Heck – he’s too busy just standing to the side because he wants Palin to be the new face of the Republican ticket – it sure has energized this website. All I’m seeing here is “Palin rocks!” and “Obama sucks!”…. uhhh what about McCain? You guys didn’t even say a thing about his speech. Wonder why – maybe because he slammed his own party? Didn’t see too many smiling faces on the RNC convention floor after he said in essence the Republicans have screwed up and we’ve got to get the faith of America back. On the other hand, I thought that part was awesome!

Oh, and that last part about Iraq and Afghanistan – no trick question here bud. I guess you had your “America under George Bush can do no bad” blinders on because here’s a “news flash” – No WMD’s in Iraq! No connection between Al Qaeda and Saddam Hussein! Of course Iraq was the mistake. Afghanistan on the other hand was right on course… too bad Bush got sidetracked by getting the guy “that tried to kill my daddy”(oh, I forgot – this is all news to you… just to fill you in, Bush said we’ve gotta go after Saddam because, “…Afterall, this is the guy that tried to kill my dad.”

  24. funwithpolitics,

You don’t sound like you’re having a good day.

What I tried to convey, and what you obviously didn’t get, my little Left-leaning friend, is perspective. I don’t know if it is just the partisan in you, or if it is ignorance.

No matter…have a beer and relax. Your guy Obama now trails in the national polls. Who knows how it will shake out in November, but most, if not all of the Obama magic has worn off.

Check out the most recent post about Obama’s proposed “civilian National Security Force”. Contemplate that and have a better day.

  25. Sarah Palin:

1)Raised taxes as the Gov. of Alaska.
2)Wants to teach creationism in Science Class, subverting the US Constitution.
3)Tried to get books banned at the local library. – kind of like Hitler
4)Fired her entire staff 10 days into term as mayor, for lack of loyalty.
5)Used every available lever to get an enemy fired from his job, and is still lying about it.
6)Put a gag order on her administration as mayor of a town of 6500.
7)Milked the Federal Government for huge series of earmarks, by using lobbyists. The highest per capita earmarker in the nation: Palin (27 Million for a town of 6500).
    8)Doesn’t believe in global warming.
9)Used Alaska First as her campaign slogan, which is the same one as her husband’s old party, the AIP, a secessionist organization she recorded a supportive piece for this year!
10)Misled America about the Bridge to Nowhere, in her first national speech (she supported it and only killed it after the funding was cut).
11)Wants to ban stem cell research. – doesn’t beleive in science!
12)Is on the record stating the Iraq war ”is a task from God.” – yes, we love wasting $10B and the scores of US soldiors on this. Support our troops, not the war!
13)In July when interviewed about the possibility of being the VP she stated that she did not know what the VP did.
14)Left her town Mayoralty with a huge debt, having outspent all around in her (21 MILION in debt). – some fiscal responsibility

  26. Wow Tara, Dem talking points line by line…which leftist Sarah- smearing organization are you with?

You might try checking some of your facts and assumptions:
    http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/sliming_palin.html

  27. Tara… some good info, but a few of your facts are off the mark. Why post rumors though when the absolute TRUTH is just as bad?

I’m sure personally she would like Creationism taught in class… but she didn’t try to implement it into policy… which is what the righties are implying you are saying. No… she just publicly said it should be debated in school – you know… get in into the educational institutions somehow…

She didn’t try to get books banned as far as implementing policy on it… but she did inquire about banning books… probably didn’t do more than that because you’re right Tara – she’d be compared to Hitler.

Tried to get her ex brother-in-law fired? Yeah, we know. Abuse of power… and these guys want her to be that close to the big red button… silly Republicans, nukes are not for pitbulls.

She does believe in global warming – but not that it’s caused, or at least severely advanced, by humans. Nope – it’s nature that’s causing the abnormal global warming. I guess she thinks if we can stop cows from excreting all that waste and get all life on earth to stop farting – there’ll be a dramatic fall in the amount of methane gas released into the atmosphere, thus putting an end to global warming… or something like that because according to her – millions of automobiles, factories spewing pollution, and countries with no environmental oversite for emissions of greenhouse gases have nothing to do with global warming.

You’re right… Palin was for that “Bridge to Nowhere” before she was against it… however you’re wrong about the funding being cut. She kept that money for Alaska.

So with that, I leave you with a campaign slogan inspired by a portion of Mrs. Palin’s speech (you know, the same speech she’s read… oops, I mean said over and over and over) – Palin and McCain – a real Bridge to Nowhere.

You know what, it might actually be fun to see her win, because I can see her victory speech now – it’ll be an introduction to her family, something about jets on ebay, bridges to nowhere, McCain was a POW, and we’re Mavericks. And then her first interview is coming up, let me guess what she’ll say… maybe an introduction to her family, something about jets on ebay, bridges to nowhere, McCain was a POW, and we’re Mavericks

Here’s a little idea of what to expect:

Random reporter: Hey Sarah, tell us your plans to improve the economy.

Sarah Palin: This is my family, Todd – he won the ironman iditerod triathalon decathalete Super Bowl. And here’s the rest of my family. My son is going to Iraq and I’m going to use it as a political tool, even though when Joe Biden’s son spoke at the Democratic National Convention, he asked the crowd to be there for his Dad when he gets inaugurated in January because he wouldn’t be able to. He never told the audience why – but we came to find out later that it was because he was deploying to Iraq too. No need for him or his dad to use it as a political tool.

Random reporter: Hey Sarah, what are your stances on issues like healthcare and the environment?

Sarah Palin: I posted a jet on ebay, but it didn’t sell and I said no to that Bridge to Nowhere after I said yes. I’m a hockey mom and my parents used to work for the school district.

Random reporter: Hey Sarah, can you say something we haven’t heard you say before?

    Sarah Palin: …

Go Palin and McCain ’08 – a real Bridge to Nowhere.
