Obama Marched with Farrakhan

Hat tip to Little Green Footballs for this one.

In a 1995 Chicago Reader article, Barack Obama talks about his career of “community organizing” and his view of the plight of blacks.

In it, he references walking in Farrakhan’s Million Man March:

Obama took time off from attending campaign coffees to attend October’s Million Man March in Washington, D.C. His experiences there only reinforced his reasons for jumping into politics.

“What I saw was a powerful demonstration of an impulse and need for African-American men to come together to recognize each other and affirm our rightful place in the society,” he said. “There was a profound sense that African-American men were ready to make a commitment to bring about change in our communities and lives…………

……..”This doesn’t suggest that the need to look inward emphasized by the march isn’t important, and that these African-American tribal affinities aren’t legitimate. These are mean, cruel times, exemplified by a ‘lock ’em up, take no prisoners’ mentality that dominates the Republican-led Congress. Historically, African-Americans have turned inward and towards black nationalism whenever they have a sense, as we do now, that the mainstream has rebuffed us, and that white Americans couldn’t care less about the profound problems African-Americans are facing.”

That “mean, cruel times” line must be one he has discussed with his wife…..they seem to use this type of rhetoric regularly to describe this country and its leaders.

Obama A Uniter?  His rhetoric about the mentality of Republicans and that white Americans couldn’t care less about the profound problems of blacks doesn’t sound like the words of a uniter.  I take you to my earlier blog — Obama’s idea of uniting is “come over to my side” you “mean” Republicans and uncaring white Americans!

Other than these lines above that jumped out at me, this article does give a view of Obama prior to his candidacy for President.   Yes, the liberals swoon at his broad statements on change, his “better” perspective on how to deal with black America, and his racist experiences at the hands of whites.

I say it further confirms his lack of a real idea on what the Presidency means.  We don’t want a community organizer for blacks–we need someone to lead the entire country!

In addition, his views reek of socialism….he doesn’t believe in the power of the individual, but the power of “a people”.  He believes those who didn’t help to build this country, or any community, for that matter, should still get the rewards of the efforts of others.  Guess he never heard the parable about “give a man a fish, he eats for a day; teach a man to fish, he eats for a lifetime.

Obama preaches the same old liberal Democrat philosophies — socialism, communism, racism, “bad America” and more — and he does it under the guise of “uniter”, “community organizer”, and “savior to blacks.”

Anyway, feel free to comment, I’d like to know the perceptions of Obama’s word 3 years ago….article is here.
