Kristof: Obama, Man of the World

UPDATE 8/20/10 (Thanks for the link back at TammyBruce.com and StopTheACLU.com!)

I just found this juicy little piece from about a year ago.  There is lots here not to like….it’s from the New York Times but that is about the only bright spot (LOL)….I’ll excerpt a few, but read it for yourself.

……In foreign policy as well, Mr. Obama would bring to the White House an important experience that most other candidates lack: he has actually lived abroad. He spent four years as a child in Indonesia and attended schools in the Indonesian language, which he still speaks.

“I was a little Jakarta street kid,” he said in a wide-ranging interview in his office (excerpts are on my (Kristoff’s) blog, www.nytimes.com/ontheground). He once got in trouble for making faces during Koran study classes in his elementary school, but a president is less likely to stereotype Muslims as fanatics — and more likely to be aware of their nationalism — if he once studied the Koran with them.

You have to be kidding me……because Barack Hussein Obama has lived abroad, he is more experienced to lead the United States of America?  How about a little different philosophy like “Because I was born in the US, love the US, was afforded opportunity like no other in the US…..therefore I would love to lead THIS country”?  Instead, he refuses a flag lapel pin and disrespects the National Anthem.

Also, let’s contrast the experience of that little “Jakarta street kid”…..to the other candidate who lived abroad in a place called the Hanoi Hilton…..while little Barry Obama was making faces at kids in class, John McCain was making faces at his North Vietnamese captors while he had the s*$t beat out of him…..how’s that for foreign policy experience?

And the line about “a president is less likely to stereotype Muslims as fanatics — and more likely to be aware of their nationalism — if he once studied the Koran with them”.   First I have never heard George Bush or anyone in his administration, or John McCain, characterize all Muslims as fanatics!  I have heard them, however, denounce radical Islam as they should.  Could Barack do the same?  Will Barack Hussein Obama show as much respect for our nationalist history by closing the borders and declaring English the primary language?  Not likely.

Other Obama quotes from the piece:

Mr. Obama recalled the opening lines of the Arabic call to prayer, reciting them with a first-rate accent. In a remark that seemed delightfully uncalculated (it’ll give Alabama voters heart attacks), Mr. Obama described the call to prayer as “one of the prettiest sounds on Earth at sunset.”

Moreover, Mr. Obama’s own grandfather in Kenya was a Muslim. Mr. Obama never met his grandfather and says he isn’t sure if his grandfather’s two wives were simultaneous or consecutive, or even if he was Sunni or Shiite. (O.K., maybe Mr. Obama should just give up on Alabama.)

Those comments pretty much stand on their own……but let’s not question his Muslim ties, background, or his Muslim name!

And as far as the prettiest sound on earth at Sunset…….I think the National Anthem sung in unison—hands on hearts—in a large American baseball stadium at dusk is a beautiful sound……but we understand why that would not occur to Obama!

  1. If I were Obama, I wouldn’t go around making too big a deal of my time living abroad. McCain has been there and done that as well…under slightly different circumstances.

I’ve heard the Muslim Call to Prayer many times in many different places as well. I’d rather listen to the National Anthem at a ball game.

  2. Good site. Good information. Good Blog. Keep it up.
Amazing how people can get carried away for a ‘candidate’ they don’t even know. I always go around telling everyone that we need Kate Smith singing ‘God Bless America’ every day. You had to feel Patriotic whenever she sang that. Brought tears to many a person wherever and whenever we heard it.
I wish November weren’t so far away as I suspect more dirty work from hilbil and obass. Right now, with what we have to choose from there, is only one choice to make and that is John McCain. Republican, Conservative or no party at all he is our best bet.
I don’t think he would sell out America for a frivolous
peace that would only last a week before we have to go back and do it all over again. Or a peace that would only allow them to get stronger with newer weapons.
Lets get the job done right this time and do it over there before we’re hiding in our own hills because of a bad election. We don’t need hil or obass, neither of which has enough experience of any kind especially foreign policy. Sorry to take up so much of your space.
