Obama’s Busy Forehead

In an interview with Bryan Williams on NBC this weekend, Barack Obama was asked, among other things, about why almost 20% of the American people would believe he is a Muslim .

Obama’s answer?

“I can’t spend all of my time with my birth certificate plastered on my forehead.”

I swear the first thing I thought of when I read that was:

“Gee, yep, you wouldn’t want to cover up that “LOSER” sign that is permanently etched there.”

Other possible replies to Obama’s statement:

“Yep, if you spent “all of your time on” that birth certificate plastering thing, it would take away from your golf game.”

“Well, so far, we’ve seen the birth certificate about as much as we’ve seen you attend a Christian church, Obama…..

Other replies?  I’d love to hear them in the comments!

Myths about the Ground Zero mosque and Obama’s outrageous defense of it

Obama has finally opened his pie hole on the issue of the Ground Zero mosque.  For weeks, Democrats and administration officials have led us to believe that the decision to allow the mosque at Ground Zero was a local issue only.  You know, as if the attacks of 9-11 orchestrated and performed by Islamic men in the name of Allah, was just a “New York thang“.

Of course, Obama’s latest defense of the mosque is no surprise to anyone who has followed the Muslim Sympathizer-in-Chief and his words and actions regarding Islam, Islamic terrorism, and the coddling of Muslim countries who are not allies to the United States.

August 13: President Barack Obama hosts an iftar dinner, the meal that breaks the dawn-to-dusk fast for Muslims during the holy month of Ramadan, in the State Dining Room at the White House in Washington, on Friday. (Source: AP)

With Obama’s decision to rub this mosque into the psyche of America-loving citizens, he did so while celebrating Ramadan with a room full of Muslims in the White House for the Iftar dinner.  Here is a portion of what Obama had to say

The 9/11 attacks were a deeply traumatic event for our country. And the pain and the experience of suffering by those who lost loved ones is just unimaginable. So I understand the emotions that this issue engenders. And Ground Zero is, indeed, hallowed ground.

But let me be clear…..

BUT…BUT….there’s always  a “BUT” with this President, particularly when it comes to defending Americans and/or our way of life.  He continues….

…..As a citizen, and as President, I believe that Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as everyone else in this country. And that includes the right to build a place of worship and a community center on private property in Lower Manhattan, in accordance with local laws and ordinances. This is America. And our commitment to religious freedom must be unshakeable. The principle that people of all faiths are welcome in this country and that they will not be treated differently by their government is essential to who we are. The writ of the Founders must endure.

Then, as all equivocating fence sitters will do after the firestorm of Americans protesting his stand….Obama tried to “clarify” his comments the next day

“I was not commenting and I will not comment on the wisdom of making the decision to put a mosque there. I was commenting very specifically on the right people have that dates back to our founding,” he said.”

Well, then, Mr. President, is it right or is it wrong to build there?  You’ve already placed yourself in the debate…we are all wanting to know ….especially Sarah Palin.

From Sarah Palin’s Facebook post

Mr. President, should they or should they not build a mosque steps away from where radical Islamists killed 3000 people? Please tell us your position. We all know that they have the right to do it, but should they? And, no, this is not above your pay grade. If those who wish to build this Ground Zero mosque are sincerely interested in encouraging positive “cross-cultural engagement” and dialogue to show a moderate and tolerant face of Islam, then why haven’t they recognized that the decision to build a mosque at this particular location is doing just the opposite? Mr. President, why aren’t you encouraging the mosque developers to accept Governor Paterson’s generous offer of assistance in finding a new location for the mosque on state land if they move it away from Ground Zero? Why haven’t they jumped at this offer? Why are they apparently so set on building a mosque steps from what you have described, in agreement with me, as “hallowed ground”? I believe these are legitimate questions to ask.

- Sarah Palin

My, oh my….To. The. Point.

Which leads us to those myths regarding the Ground Zero mosque…

Myth #1 – Support for building of the mosque is about religious freedom:

As many have pointed out, counter to Obama’s words, this is not about religious freedom…this is about an act of war and about respecting that “hallowed ground” for which Obama spoke.  This is about sensitivities to Americans and their loss, not about defending the sensitivities of a religion that has been supposedly hijacked by extremists. ( I say “SUPPOSEDLY hijacked” because one rarely sees the “peaceful” Muslim that speaks out against the horrendous transgressions of the “extremists”.  Many Muslims even debate their allegiance to America as Muslims.)

Mr. President, here is what we are talking about with “hallowed ground”….From Charles Krauthammer

A place is made sacred by a widespread belief that it was visited by the miraculous or the transcendent (Lourdes, the Temple Mount), by the presence there once of great nobility and sacrifice (Gettysburg), or by the blood of martyrs and the indescribable suffering of the innocent (Auschwitz).

When we speak of ground zero as hallowed ground, what we mean is that it belongs to those who suffered and died there – and that such ownership obliges us, the living, to preserve the dignity and memory of the place, never allowing it to be forgotten, trivialized or misappropriated.

Myth #2 – This is about a “peaceful Islam” working to build bridges, as Imam Rauf claims.

Peaceful? As Douglas Murray at The Daily Beast had to say

The very idea of building a mosque there is a dangerous sign of Muslim demands on Western societies, says British authority Douglas Murray—and it shows that the U.S. must make a stand.

“Islam is a religion of peace.” That is what every Western leader says every time a Muslim sets something off.

They never tell us which ones they think are the violent religions. But for Islam it’s a win-win. Knock down a tower and everyone in government says how terrific Islam is. Build a tower and everyone in government says how terrific Islam is. Either way it’s a gain for Islam.

And as George Jonas at NationalPost.com points out

The question to ask is: Can any group genuinely believe that building a mosque two blocks from where jihadists pulverized 3,000 New Yorkers nine years ago will promote cross-cultural understanding between Islam and the West?

If the answer is yes (God knows, some people believe anything) the next question is: Having observed their New York neighbours’ actual reaction to their plan, do they believe it still?

This mosque appears to be about conquest.  Just ask the Christians of the 8th to 10th centuries who were overrun by Muslims who then converted their churches to mosques as a sign of conquest.   One such example happened in Cordoba, Spain.

What is the name of the initiative at Ground Zero?  The CORDOBA Initiative or Cordoba House. (At least until the name was changed to “Park51″ after the real meaning of Cordoba House has hit the mainstream.)

In many ways the construction of this Ground Zero mosque reeks of efforts for continued Islamization of America:  to lie (taqiyya), conquer (9-11), symbolize conquest (as in Cordoba), and implement laws (Sharia) that are counter to the very Constitution that Obama has touted in building the mosque.   A letter to the editor at the Washington Times best conveys this view

Radical Islam has no tolerance or respect for people of other faiths or creeds, especially Christians and Jews, Americans and Israelis. Its purpose is to subdue non believers and force them to live under Islamic law, Shariah. That is precisely its aim in the United States and the rest of the Western world – and a mosque at ground zero would help it do exactly that. It would move Islamization in the United States and elsewhere forward by leaps and bounds.

Radical Muslims consider conquered territory and people to be forever under the sway of Islam. Placing a mosque so close to the World Trade Center site, particularly a mega-mosque like the one being advocated, would enable them to see New York as conquered territory and view it as a bridgehead leading to the subjugation of the entire United States. The city is America’s most prominent and is one with a very large Jewish population. A clearer message could not be sent.

Of course, New Yorkers can send a clear message of their own by preventing the mosque from being constructed. They would be saying that they are not willing to accept the erosion of their values and way of life, that Islamization will be fought and that America is not an Islamic nation and will never become one.

One thing is very clear…..Imam Rauf, the Imam of the new mosque, and one who has been embraced by Obama and his State Department (with your tax dollars), is not one to be trusted on issues of Sharia law and imposing Islamic standards onto America.

From American Thinker, we find that Imam Rauf supports Sharia law and different ways to produce an Islamic State

…..when Rauf speaks in Arabic, he contradicts what he says to his English-speaking audience. ……. He goes on to say that “Religious dialogue as customarily understood is a set of events with discussions in large hotels that result in nothing.” Finally, Rauf says “it is clear an Islamic state can be established in more than just a single form or mold. It can be established through a kingdom or a democracy. The important issue is to establish the general fundamentals of sharia that are required to govern.”

Religious freedom is an American value for sure.  But this mosque is about war, Islamization, history, Islamic law and lying to gain a bigger foothold in America for Islam.

Myth #3 – Being against the mosque makes your view against the Constitution

Obama would have you to believe that this is solely about denying some religious rights to Muslims.  But the point is that, via a recent CNN poll, 68% of Americans are against building this mosque.  It is simply the WRONG thing to do, particularly if you are an Imam touting it for “building bridges and relationships.”

The imam and his followers do have a right to worship via their faith in this country.  And, yes, they have a right to build a mosque.  But just as any other commercial, religious, or residential structure being built in America, it is still subject to zoning rights, and in many cases, hearings on the appropriateness of the structure.  Granted, the NYC Council has approved the building, but to the Constitutional point and the “rights” pointed out by Obama, Americans are opposed to it because of the location and the act of war perpetrated by followers of Islam.  They are not opposed to other mosques in other appropriate places.

In other words, Mr. President, this isn’t about Americans denying the free exercise of faith, it is about denying an act of War to be rubbed into our faces in a place where thousands of our fellow citizens were murdered.

They may have a right to build a mosque…..but, at Ground Zero, it is the WRONG thing to do.

And conversely, Obama is touting the Constitution when it suits his purposes (ie. being in support of the mosque at Ground Zero).  But where is the reverence for that same document when dealing with almost every other issue for which Obama wants to control us?

From Laura Armstong at the Marietta Daily Journal…she says it best

While his wife is busy, when not vacationing, telling moms and kids what to eat and how to cook it, he says we shouldn’t restrict the building of a mosque just feet from the hallowed ground of the World Trade Center.

While his party outlaws our rights to smoke, cook with partially hydrogenated oil, buy our favorite 100 watt light bulbs or choose our own medical insurance plan, he says we should not outlaw a 15-story building, a supposed place of worship, that will rise like a middle finger from the destruction in lower Manhattan and has likely been bankrolled by terrorist sympathizers and anti-American Muslim groups planning to make the United States their next experiment in creeping Sharia law.

As he tells us to turn down our thermostats, remain stoic through yet more job loss and economic pain and suck it up when our taxes skyrocket in 2011, and as he excoriates American institutions such as Wall Street and Midwesterners who “cling to their guns and religion,” He talks tough about kicking a– – of the capitalist, CEO variety.

But when addressing the dangerous and surreptitious enemy who’s trying to stick us in the eye, yet again, he speaks with gentle tolerance and invokes their “constitutional rights.”

But as the blogger “Rhymes with Right” so intelligently point out, why didn’t Obama take the opportunity in his Iftar speech to “teleprompt” some thoughts into their minds about our rights and Constitution?  After all, wouldn’t the son and stepson of Muslims clearly understand those freedoms that are not so inherent to Islamic politics and religion?

…. If, as this son and stepson of Muslims seems to imply, he is all about religious freedom, why didn’t he take the opportunity to also come out in favor of religious freedom in the Muslim world? You know, like the repeal of blasphemy laws that are used to suppress the speech of non-Muslims, the right of non-Muslims to build houses of worship on the same basis that Muslims may build mosques, and the freedom of non-Muslims to worship publicly, as well as the freedom on Muslims to exercise their human right to leave that faith and embrace another (or none at all).

It would be laughable if not so serious.   Confederate Yankee sums it up best with regards to what is really happening at Ground Zero and what exactly Obama supports

There are rights, and there are rights. Mass murderers never have the right to prance and pose over the remains of their victims. If Barack Obama doesn’t understand that, he simply is not fit to be President, and is barely worthy of being called a citizen.

Myth #4 – The area where the mosque is to be built is not at Ground Zero

And just for the record….some have incorrectly tried to state that this mosque is being built two blocks away from Ground Zero.  Well that two blocks away is part of Ground Zero…as many have pointed out, including AipNews.com, a portion of the airplane landed on the very building that marks the spot of the new mosque.

And, as “Blackiswhite, Imperial Consigliere” at Nice Deb, so clearly stated

Look at the pictures from that day.  Look at the reach of that dust cloud…that dust that was all that remained of two skyscrapers containing 3000+ people.  Any place that dust reached is the resting place of people killed in the name of Islam, and they don’t deserve the insult of a mosque and calls to prayer over them, now or ever.

Here is the location of the Ground Zero Mosque…check it out for yourself.

Americans are correct in so many ways to oppose this mosque….Keep up the opposition.   It is a disgrace to all Americans, particularly those who died that morning in 2001.

The Ground Zero Mosque and Taxpayer Dollars courtesy of the Obama Administration

From Redstate.com today is an interesting analysis of the fiasco that is the Ground Zero Mosque.

An interesting part of this story, that doesn’t get reported by the MSM, involves the State Department-funded chairman of the Cordoba Initiative and future imam of the mosque, Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf.

Yes, our very own State Department, part of the Obama administration, is funding Imam Rauf with your tax dollars.

While debate rages over plans for an Islamic center in Lower Manhattan, the imam behind this project, Feisal Abdul Rauf, is not available to answer questions in New York. Since locating the absent Rauf last week in Malaysia, I have now discovered that he’s about to embark on a nearly month-long swing through the Middle East, with plans to visit Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain and Qatar…….

……. in response to repeated questions, a member of Rauf’s New York Cordoba Initiative foundation e-mailed me Friday, saying that Rauf’s trip to the Middle East, “in the near future,” will be hosted by the U.S. government as part of an outreach program to “bring the message of moderation, peace and understanding.”

All this comes at a moment when Rauf and his partners in New York are preparing to raise $100 million to build a 13-story Islamic center and mosque near Ground Zero.

The State Department has apparently confirmed that Rauf is receiving this funding:

The imam behind controversial plans for a mosque near the site of the Sept. 11 attacks is being sent by the State Department on a religious outreach trip to the Middle East, officials said Tuesday.

The department is sponsoring Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf’s visit to Qatar, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates, where he will discuss Muslim life in America and promote religious tolerance, State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley said. He said the imam had been on two similar trips and that plans for the upcoming tour predated the mosque controversy.

“We have a long-term relationship with him,” Crowley told reporters, noting that Rauf had visited Bahrain, Morocco, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar in 2007 and went to Egypt last January as part of an exchange program run by the department’s Office of International Information Programs.

The great analysis by RedState.com breaks out exactly why the Obama administration should be involved (as per the already mentioned funding by the State Dept.) and why building this mosque at Ground Zero is simply wrong.

The issue is not even really a legal one, but one of right and wrong:

The debate over the “Ground Zero Mosque” presents two separate questions:

(1) Whether the mosque is wrong and should be stopped.

(2) Whether some arm of the government should be the ones to stop it.

Tellingly, liberal defenders of the project have talked almost exclusively about the second point, and avoided the first.

While I joined wholeheartedly in the RedState editorial last week condemning the project and calling for a halt to it, I’ve been a bit agnostic on the second point myself. There are constitutional and statutory restrictions on what the government can or should do to interfere with the building of houses of worship, and those restrictions exist for good reasons, even when in a particular case the house of worship represents a deliberate provocation. Even without the government’s involvement, the mosque project itself is indefensible on its merits, and can and should be subject to public criticism and shame and any other lawful private sanction that can be brought to bear against outrageous conduct (a point Ed Morrissey makes here).

Clearly the mosque being built is Ground Zero is offensive.   It is also symbolic for Muslims since they have frequently, throughout history, built their mosques upon places they have conquered….as in Cordoba.  This move by Imam Rauf and his ilk is clearly provocative, not for healing and so-called “cross-cultural understanding”.

From  George Jonas at NationalPost.com:

The question to ask is: Can any group genuinely believe that building a mosque two blocks from where jihadists pulverized 3,000 New Yorkers nine years ago will promote cross-cultural understanding between Islam and the West?

If the answer is yes (God knows, some people believe anything) the next question is: Having observed their New York neighbours’ actual reaction to their plan, do they believe it still?

I encourage you to read the entire RedState.com article.  It clearly outlines the reasons why this mosque should be stopped.

Something to consider: A snapshot-in-time of YOUR country

As I’ve read and listened to the new just over the last several days, I just keep wondering what our country is and has been transforming to.

As I’ve stated before, I no longer believe the fight in this country is between Republicans and Democrats or liberals vs. conservatives, per se. I believe our fight is clearly one on many fronts: good vs. evil, anti-Capitalists vs. Capitalists, immoral vs. moral, and haters-of-Americans vs. America lovers, and freedom suppressors vs. freedom lovers. This includes clear assaults on our markets, upon Christians, upon patriots, our military, and our system of laws.

Much of the most recent news gives a great glimpse into the country we are becoming and have become. As you read these examples, think to yourself if this is the country you want now and one you wish to leave to your kids and grandkids.

We’ve sat on the sidelines for far too long while we’ve allowed these assaults on our institutions to fester and grow. It is a sad state of affairs.  And the current administration and Congress has done virtually nothing to make it better and almost everything to make it worse.

I give you, my fellow citizens, a snapshot of your country in the Spring, 2010:

Patriotism no longer accepted:  Students sent home for wearing American flag to school on Cinco de Mayo

Students from Live Oak School in California

A group of California students who dared to wear the American flag on Cinco de Mayo learned a hard lesson about the corruption of citizenship and sovereignty this week.

They were sent home for their show of U.S. patriotism.

No bounds to immorality and perversion:  It’s official: Cher’s gender-swap son Chaz Bono is legally a man   The disgusting details:

Chaz Bono as man....formerly Chastity Bono

Bono started undergoing gender-reassignment surgery in March 2009 – soon after turning 40.

In an interview last year, he said undergoing the surgery was ‘the best decision I’ve ever made’.

He said: ‘I feel so much more comfortable than I’ve ever been.

‘I’ve felt male as far back as I can remember. Life is short and life is precious. This is who I am. I need to finally be who I am.’

He explained that the entire  transition from female to male will take about four to five years.

So far, his breasts have been removed and he has received hormone treatments to deepen his voice. And to his delight, he now has to shave his face.

As one commenter in the news article stated clearly:

What should be discussed as a psychiatric disorder is instead being celebrated, at least by this nutty girl and a few like-minded gawkers.

And another:

“Anyone can be confused and uncomfortable, have pieces removed and foreign pieces sewn on, and take hormones to change all sorts of things. It does not change what you were created to be. It only creates an illusion.”

Intolerance of Christianity and free speech:  National Day of Prayer ruled unconstitutional  & Franklin Graham disinvited to speak at Prayer event because of his views on Islam

Evangelist Franklin Graham prayed on a sidewalk outside the Pentagon Thursday after his invitation to a prayer service inside was withdrawn because of comments that insulted Muslims.

“It looks like Islam has gotten a pass,” he told reporters. “They are able to have their services, but just because I disagree … I’m excluded.”

Franklin Graham

Kudos to Graham for defending his beliefs and Jesus Christ and hanging tough amidst his Biblically prophetic outright persecution.  Since when is it not OK to profess the Christian faith and belief? Maybe since Obama said, “We are no longer a Christian Nation“. More Graham:

He (Graham) said he doesn’t believe “all religions are equal” and that there is only “one way to God” — and that is through Jesus.

Asked if he still believes Islam is evil, he said: “I believe the way they treat women is evil, yes I do.” And, can he understand how some of his comments would be offensive to Muslims? “Oh, I’m sure,” he said. “But I find what they teach and what they preach and what’s on the Internet — I find that to be offensive, too.”

Another moment in the press conference, he said people shouldn’t be offended because it’s simply a disagreement in what people believe.

Last time I checked, Franklin Graham runs an organization for helping the poor, downtrodden, and abused.  They are active in Haiti, Chile, Nashville and more currently helping with disasters.   He comes from perhaps the most ethical of families but is persecuted for calling evil what it is.  Islam is not a religion of love and helping fellow man, but is an authoritative one of suppression, threats, and violence and one that condemns those who disagree with its tenets.

Franklin Graham prays for Muslims with whom he disagrees.  But in Islam, Graham is an infidel and worthy of death.  Can the contrast be any more stark?

More snapshots  of your country in the news including High Unemployment, Immorality, boycotts for border laws, Presidential power grabs, entitlements run amok and sports star and Hollywood depravity:

Of course, not all is lost in America.  I hold out great hope that the uprising of American patriots will turn back the tide of this assault on America.

But reality is reality and these headlines are but a snapshot in time of our country right now.  Would the founders even recognize us anymore?  Just ponder the thought and think/pray about what it is that you might be able to offer to our country to change it back to what it was meant to be.

Shameful display of dhimmitude: Pentagon/Army disinvite Franklin Graham from speaking at National Day of Prayer event

Shameful!  I am truly sickened by the weakness our Pentagon has shown this week on this issue.

From Yahoo!News via Atlas Shrugs:

WASHINGTON – Christian evangelist Franklin Graham says the Army has withdrawn an invitation for him to appear at a special Pentagon prayer service.

In a statement Thursday, Graham said he regrets the Army’s decision and will continue to pray for the troops.

Graham, the son of famed evangelist Billy Graham, in 2001 described Islam as evil. More recently, he has said he finds Islam offensive and wants Muslims to know that Jesus Christ died for their sins.

So a Christian evangelist who has done more for the poor and tragic in this world than all Muslims combined is now silenced because he finds the actions of Muslims as offensive, even while praying for their souls?  What alternate universe do we now live in?

How is it wrong for an American Christian to call out Muslims on their treatment of women, their violent teachings and more?

Before the Pentagon decided to dis-invite Graham, Atlas Shrugs makes a great point in comparing the present-day killing of Jews and Christians, in the name of Islam, to the love spread by Franklin Graham.  No comparison.

Hate sponsor CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad said, “Franklin Graham’s appearance [at the Pentagon] has the potential to harm unit cohesion and morale through the promotion of distorted, intolerant and divisive views within military ranks.” Is Awad threatening us with another Major Hasan Fort Hood jihad massacre? There is an implied threat.

The jihadist infiltrators are feeling emboldened. You ain’t seen nuthin yet, brothers and sisters. The forces of darkness are pressuring the already compromised Pentagon to cancel Franklin Graham. I hope Graham brings recent pictures of all the Christians and Jews murdered at the hands of jihad in Nigeria, Indonesia, Somalia, Lebanon, Israel, Iran, etc., about which CAIR has been diabolically silent.

It’s OK for hateful and jihadist imams like Johari Abdul-Malik of the 911 terror mosque Dar al-Hijrah to give the opening prayer to the oldest elected state legislature at the state capital in Virginia, and it’s OK that Obama’s inauguration prayer was given by the president of  a terror linked organization … but Franklin Graham is the problem?

Franklin Graham is the solution. I pray he doesn’t submit to Islamic thuggery and supremacism and retract, or that the mighty Pentagon doesn’t quiver, cower, cry and cave to CAIR.

Franklin didn’t cower, but the Pentagon did, unfortunately.

Perhaps Sarah Palin, on her Facebook page, has said it best:

My, have things changed. I was honored to have Rev. Franklin Graham speak at my Governor’s Prayer Breakfasts. His good work in Alaska’s Native villages and his charitable efforts all over the world stem from his servant’s heart. In my years of knowing him, I’ve never found his tempered and biblically-based comments to be offensive – in fact his words have been encouraging and full of real hope.

It’s truly a sad day when such a fine patriotic man, whose son is serving on his fourth deployment in Afghanistan to protect our freedom of speech and religion, is dis-invited from speaking at the Pentagon’s National Day of Prayer service. His comments in 2001 were aimed at those who are so radical that they would kill innocent people and subjugate women in the name of religion.

Are we really so hyper-politically correct that we can’t abide a Christian minister who expresses his views on matters of faith? What a shame. Yes, things have changed.

- Sarah Palin

What a sad day when Christian voices are silenced in the name of Islam in America—and done so by the very military that is supposed to protect our rights to speak.  I’m shaking my head in shame.
Was it not Muslims that killed 3000 Americans on 9/11/01?  Is it not Muslims who have declared that Israel must be removed from the face of the earth?  Was it not followers of Islam who beheaded an American journalist and many others?
Would the military rather have invited a cleric/imam to speak out of “fairness”?  I’m sure that’s what CAIR would propose.  So next time just who will get to speak at such a prayer event in a country founded upon Judeo-Christian principles?
You know what offends me?  The very same groups (CAIR) and hyper-Muslims who NEVER speak out about the atrocities their followers perpetrate on innocents, but are “offended” by a few words and a man who calls them out on it.   He must be elminated from speaking!  Islam is a deceptive and dangerous religion…I agree with Frankin.  Americans caving to their demands and deception do none of us any favors in the end.
I’m sick of our government, leaders, and now, military caving to the demands of a religion whose main contribution to the world is war, violence, death, and fear.

It is a very rare moment when I would say this but shame on our Pentagon and our military today.

As a commenter at Atlas Shrug writes:
There are many in our midst who are of the darkness. They deceive, and are being deceived. Our only weapon against them is light, and truth which cannot be destroyed by darkness. ………… Do not lose heart, truth shall overcome in the end.
“You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”  John 8:32

‘They Need to Be Liberated From Their God’

The Wall Street Journal has an interesting article about Mosab Hassan Yousef, a spy for Israel and the son of the founder of Hamas, who converted to Christianity from Islam and now resides in low profile in Southern California.

He is seeking asylum in the US and tells the story of a good father and childhood. But after seeing the brutality of many Muslims in Hamas and other places, he decided to accept an offer from Israel to become a spy.  He spied for Israel for several years until he decided he was tired of spying in 2006.  By that time, he had converted to Christianity and has moved to the US.  His family has disowned him.

Here are some of his words in the article….but the whole read is very interesting from a Christian perspective but also because through Yousef we see can through one set of eyes from a non-violent Muslim and his conversion to Christianity.

About his turn from Islam to Christianity:

‘I absolutely know that in anybody’s eyes I was a traitor,” says Mosab Hassan Yousef. “To my family, to my nation, to my God. I crossed all the red lines in my society. I didn’t leave one that I didn’t cross.”

About Christianity’s lessons on love and caring:

“I converted to Christianity because I was convinced by Jesus Christ as a character, as a personality. I loved him, his wisdom, his love, his unconditional love. I didn’t leave [the Islamic] religion to put myself in another box of religion. At the same time it’s a beautiful thing to see my God exist in my life and see the change in my life. I see that when he does exist in other Middle Easterners there will be a change.

With that statement, my own thoughts turn to our founders and the fact that they established our country based on the moral values espoused in the Bible.   Our country has been well-served with those principles and has been a clear “change” from almost all other civilizations in history.  (Which is why we must continue fighting Obama’s anti-freedom agenda with all we have…but that is a post for another day)

With that foundation, and through the resolve of President George W Bush, we’ve eliminated an evil regime and established a fledgling democracy in Iraq based on a moral law of individual freedom and government of the people.  Perhaps the very extension of our Judeo-Christian-based system into the Middle East and the recent successful elections in Iraq are proof that Yousef’s statement on God’s love and wisdom and accompanying change is accurate.

More on Yousef’s view of Christianity:

“I’m not trying to convert the entire nation of Israel and the entire nation of Palestine to Christianity. But at least if you can educate them about the ideology of love, the ideology of forgiveness, the ideology of grace. Those principles are great regardless, but we can’t deny they came from Christianity as well.”

On Islam’s violent “god” and the ideological war we are fighting:

As the son of a Muslim cleric, he says he had reached the conclusion that terrorism can’t be defeated without a new understanding of Islam. ……

…….Do you consider your father a fanatic? “He’s not a fanatic,” says Mr. Yousef. “He’s a very moderate, logical person. What matters is not whether my father is a fanatic or not, he’s doing the will of a fanatic God. It doesn’t matter if he’s a terrorist or a traditional Muslim. At the end of the day a traditional Muslim is doing the will of a fanatic, fundamentalist, terrorist God. I know this is harsh to say. Most governments avoid this subject. They don’t want to admit this is an ideological war.

and the lies of Islam:

“The problem is not in Muslims,” he continues. “The problem is with their God. They need to be liberated from their God. He is their biggest enemy. It has been 1,400 years they have been lied to.”

And the very fact that Yousef lives under the veil of continued threat against his life clearly exhibits the difference between what he describes as the lying God of Islam and the loving God of Christianity.  For simply speaking out against his former religion, the followers of Islam, including his family, are taught to hate him, if not eliminate him.

Quote of the Day – Mark Steyn

Few can express a view quite like Mark Steyn. (Read his whole piece on the clash of Islam and the West):

Barack Obama has spent the last year doing bigtime Islamoschmoozing, from his announcement of Gitmo’s closure and his investigation of Bush officials to his bow before the Saudi King and a speech in Cairo to “the Muslim world” with far too many rhetorical concessions and equivocations. And at the end of it, the jihad sent America a thank-you note by way of Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab’s underwear: Hey, thanks for all the outreach! But we’re still gonna kill you…..

……Last November [2008], the electorate voted in effect to repudiate the previous eight years and seemed genuinely under the delusion that wars end when one side decides it’s all a bit of a bore and they’d rather the government spend the next eight years doing to health care and the economy what they were previously doing to jihadist camps in Waziristan.
