Pelosi’s “ethical” Congress rewriting rules to shut out Republicans

I guess buying a Democrat’s access to the White House to the tune of $600 million, stealing a Democratic Senate seat in Minnesota, and having handy majorities in the House and Senate are not enough for Nancy Pelosi.

Nancy Pelosi is changing the rules in the House so that minority Republicans will not be able to offer alternative legislation in the House.  In addition, she is doing away with the term limits on Committee Chairs allowing reps to stay put in those seats until retirement.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and her Democrat allies are poised to rewrite House rules today, ending term limits for committee chairmen and curtailing a procedural motion for Republicans to offer alternative legislation. Changing the rules will make it easier for Democrats to raise taxes without opposition.

Pelosi’s maneuvers are the latest sign that she has abandoned her promise to “create the most honest, most open, and most ethical Congress in history.” By limiting the minority’s ability to offer alternative legislation on the House floor, Pelosi is shutting down one of the few legislative weapons Republicans have at their disposal. Ending term limits means many chairman will weild the gavel until they retire or die.

Before you liberals start slobbering and spouting “majority rules”, the House Republicans in 1995 wrote the rules for allowing minority opposition under Gingrich and minority Democrats were allowed for their 12 years to use the “motion to recommit” that Pelosi is now taking away from the now-Republican minority.

These people (including Pelosi, Reid, Obama, and their ilk) don’t believe in fairness or representation of any kind (majority or minority)—their only interest is their power and keeping it…citizens be damned.

  1. I’m not sure I agree that Franken or the Dems stole the Senate seat in Minnesota.

However, if being stupid was a crime, many Minnesota hoser’s would be guilty…not sure what you expect from the people who elected Jesse Ventura as Governer.

Or course, you could same the same about most in my home state as well….

And that is what she is doing. For a liberal to achieve that, they must block out all opposition so that that they can accomplish what is right, true, and just. Just ask them, they will tell you!!

Anything other than what a liberal wants is wrong and people just need to understand that fact and get over it. Again, just ask them.

Government will expand and the people voted for it. It will take over every aspect of your life. May as well had over you paycheck now because they will be getting it anyway. While “we the people” have to cut back and can’t demand more from our employers to cover our costs, government is not held accountable to the same standards. Imagine is Congress, specifically Nancy Pelosi, had to sign a statement authenticating the books for all the money they go through. How long would she last before she was sent to jail.

  4. GJB,
I suppose no one can prove exactly whether the election has so far been stolen or not….But a 400-plus vote swing in Franken’s favor amidst questions of double counting, Democrat partisan officials, and inconsistent ballot decisions certainly do not indicate a legitimate outcome either.

    From the Wall Street Journal…(http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123111967642552909.html):
“This helps explain why more than 25 precincts now have MORE BALLOTS THAN VOTERS who signed in to vote. By some estimates this double counting has yielded Mr. Franken an additional 80 to 100 votes.” (my emphasis)

WSJ lists several inconsistencies that were all decided in Franken’s favor adding at least 276 votes to in his favor.

A partisan board certifying those kind of results and tactics leaves me to conclude that the person who won on election day had this election taken away from him.
